The 8th Israeli Conference on Cognition Research

A Two-Day Virtual Conference - February 23-24, 2021.

Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, the eighth Conference on Cognition Research of the Israeli Society for Cognitive Psychology will be held in a two-day virtual format, on February 23-24, 2021.

As in previous years, our aim is to bring together the large and diverse Israeli cognitive community of researchers and students in a single (virtual) venue to share their research and perspectives on this rapidly advancing field. This year in particular, we hope that the planned virtual conference will provide a sense of continuity and opportunity to interact, despite the clear limitations of the virtual format.

The conference this year will include three key components:

1. A small number of invited talks and discussions including both senior Israeli scientists and distinguished guests from abroad.

2. Interactive poster sessions — similar to traditional poster sessions, a special interactive platform (currently being tested for suitability) will be used to allow participants to visit individual posters and interact through live video with the presenter and other visiting participants. (Interaction with other participants can also take place without regard to specific posters, at virtual “coffee tables” and other locations!)

3. “Early viewing” poster period (offline) — All accepted posters will be accessible for early viewing by the conference participants, one week before the start of the two-day live events. Early viewing is intended to allow participants, at times that are convenient for them (“offline”), to familiarize themselves in advance with the substance of the posters, thereby increasing the potential effectiveness of the interactions that take place during the virtual poster sessions.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts are to be submitted (via the conference website) for the poster presentations only! [Only a very small number of “synchronous” live talks/discussions can be included, and these are being organized directly by the members of the organizing committee].

Abstracts for individual posters should be submitted online by filling out the Abstract Submission Form.

Poster Submission

We are pleased to provide the following link for uploading your poster (image file): Submission Link

We remind you that the deadline for uploading your poster is February 7, 2021.

However, please do not wait until the last minute – the earlier you upload your poster, the earlier we can make the necessary additional preparations.

The upload process makes use of Google Forms, and for technical reasons, to use the form you will need to be logged in to a Google account. Any Google account to which you have access (e.g., your own or a coauthor’s) is fine.

If this is a problem, please contact the form administrators, Lee-shai Katsav or Maya Mentzel, at iscopisl@gmail.com, to work out a solution.

Note that you should upload your poster only once. If you wish to change the image file that you uploaded, you can do so by contacting the form administrators by mail.

***Please try to refrain from any changes and upload your poster only once you have a final version.***

Lee-shai and Maya can also be contacted for any other questions or problems encountered during the process.

During the upload process, you will be asked to provide your poster’s session number (1,2,3) and research topic (e.g., Attention), as specified in the conference program.

***Please use the updated program on the website, as some of the poster numbers have changed in the past week.***

Finally, after making sure that you have followed the poster specifications that we sent you earlier (concerning poster formatting and dimensions),

please rename the poster image file before uploading it, according to the following filename format: “X-YY-LASTNAME”,

Where:

X = session number (1, 2, 3),

YY = poster number (01, 02, … 42; always use two digits)

LASTNAME = last name of the presenting author (all CAPITAL letters),

(with no spaces between the dashes).

For example: “3-07-COHEN.jpg” or “3-07-COHEN.png”

Once all of the posters have been uploaded and organized for pre-viewing, we will send you a new link to view your poster and make sure that everything is as it should be. Thanks very much for your cooperation!
